Treatments

Bone Thinning
Bone Thinning

Treatment of the bone thinning may vary depending on bone intensity scanning, age , sex , medical past of the patient and level of the disease.  The treatment is generally composed of change of life style, increasing the bone intensity and drug treaphy aiming to decrease risks of bone breakeages.

Prosthesis Surgery
Prosthesis Surgery

Some of the patients may not recover despite the treatments like relaxation, drugs, physical treatments, using baston and intra-articular injections. In this cases, total knee prosthesis treatment is feasible for the patients who have knee aches, are banned from doing dailiy activites like jogging or coming up a ladder and are  heavily ruined  on joint cartilage.

Shoulder Ilnesses
Shoulder Ilnesses

This is one of the main reason behind the shoulder aches. There is a gap between arm bone and shoulder bone’s protruding side ( acromion ) in the shoulder joint.

(Subacromial space )  Here is a rotator cuff enabling the shoulder to move and sacculations ( bursal tissue ). Owing to any sort of reason, there occurs an oedema in the shoulders and sacculations. The oedema thickens  or the space gets smaller depending on calcification of the bony tissue. Muscles enabling the shoulder to move can not show their movement cpability and impegement starts while the shoulder is moving. So this movement causes an ache.

Meniscus Treatment
Meniscus Treatment

Meniscus repairement: If there is a tear on outer side of the meniscus, then this method can be applied , however, this method is not applicable for every patient. Arthoscopycally, the repairement is possible and the results are better compared to the open surgery. On the other hand,  the recovery period is longer in a comparison to the patients who’s torn  meniscuses are cut off the body ( menisectomy ).

Menisectomy: This is a method the torn part of the meniscus is taken off. This method is applied on outher tears, that does not have a possibility to recover, of the meniscus. If it is operated arthroscopically, the recovery period gets faster and the patient can get up in the same day.

Hallux Valgus
Hallux Valgus

Hallux Valgus is protuberances as a result of deformation on interior toes. This protuberance can be painfull. Narrow and high heeled shoes oftenly causes this problem. Generally, the women have this disease. Hallux valgus, another name is the bunion removal foot, can be treated without a surgery if it is diagnosed early. This sort of precaution is easy. People should wear the appropriate shoes.  The shoes should fit to the foot. Soft, large and flat-heeled shoes should be chosen.  The heel must be up tu 5 cm. Narrow, pointy toed and irritating shoes should not preferred.

Hip Prosthesis Surgery
Hip Prosthesis Surgery

Total hip prosthesis is applied to patients who have advanced hip joint damage. The prosthesis produced of cobalt chrome or titanium is replaced with the damaged joint.Plastic, metal or ceramic components are used for the connecting pieces. The hip prosthesis surgery can be done thorough two ways. In the older patients who has a lower bone endurance, a filling named bone cement and the prosthesis are placed on the bone. This sort of prosthesis are called as cement containing hip prosthesis. For younger patients who have a stronger bone endurance,  the prosthesis covered by a spongy  substance is placed in the bone, confidently.

Issues You Wonder

Frequently asked questions

What are bone diseases ?

There can be generally breakage, thinning, weakness cases depending on ageing. Reasons of all of these bone disases are, nutrition, life style and genetic story of the patient.  Symptoms of frequently observed bone diseases are:

  • Aches in joints
  • Remarkable getting smaller of the bones
  • Erythema or purpleness on the surface of skin covering the bones
  • Sounds coming from the bones when moving
  •  Crookedness and deformities in bones
  • Easily breakage or dislocation of the bones
  • Deformities in structure of healty bones
Why hip prosthesis is needed ?

We generally need the hip prosthesis in the case of hip calcification and hip deformations. Our patients who lost their daily life quality consult us. We do replace joints with prosthesis when the patients have  problems with walking, sitting, crouching and coming up or down a ladder. We decide upon a proper proshtesis for the patient. Then surgery takes place with minimal invasive technics. Finally the patient stands up and start to walk after the surgery and is charged within 2-3 days.

What causes a knee calcification?

Keeping our weight in balance not only protects us from ilnesses but also plays an important role against the calcification. Loosing weight  protects the knee joint and provides a healty muscle system. Joint caicification mostly begins with a pain and causes a limitation of movement and cartilage damage.  Knee joints in the a body are one of the most damaged joint. Overweight causes an extra pressure on the joints and gives a way to arthritis symptoms  which means  inflammation , ache , turgescency and hardening.

What is an innate hip luxation ?

Innate hip luxation may end in  permanent diseases if it is not observed and treated in advance. This kind of luxation simply means that the hip  comes out of the hole that should be located in the head of thigh bone.

Innate hip luxation symptoms

There may not be any symptoms in children who don’t have a heavy luxation level until they start to walk. This cases can be detected in a normal treatment of the child.

Which babies are under risk ?

Those who have a hip luxation in family or close relatives. This case must be immediately informed to doctor.

Babies who were born with breech presentation  or who keep their head up  in mother’s womb untill birth are in more danger.

Is possible that hip prosthesis can dislocate or softening ?

After the surgery, the patient should do given exercises and stay away from doing banned movements. Hip prosthesis luxation or softening cases can be within 5 –10 years after the surgery. Beyond this, it can be observed in 50 years old and older people.

Hip prosthesis luxation or softening  symptoms ?

  • Painful feeling
  • Turgescency in hip and thigh
  • Dangerous movements may damage the body
  • A sound may come serious ache can be observed after the sound
  • Difficiulties with wailking
  • Shortness in leg
  • Doing sport may make feel challenging after the surgery
What are sorts of hip prosthesis and features ?

Prosthesis sorts that we use in the hip prosthesis surgeries are composed of ceramic and metal components. Used prosthesis processes can be classified as three groups.

Cement-free hip prosthesis

Curent prosthesis are produced without cement thanks to today’s technology. The cement-free prosthesis ensure bone development. Prostheses are placed in hipbone and thigh bone. Growing bone mends with the prosthesis and acts in a unified form.

There are 3 types of prostheses of medical productions:

  • Metal-head and plastic hole
  • Ceramic head and ceramic hole
  • Metal head and metal hole

Cement containing prosthesis

These are prosthesis that are produced with chemical matters and got sticked by using adhesives . Average life-time is around 25 years. Materials used in these prosthesis are extremely strong.

Surface covering

Surface covering option can be applied through the last technology. Surface covering method is generally applied on young and active people. There is no possibility that the used prosthesis may dislocate from it’s hole. This kind of operations can take around 40 minutes.

What is Heel Spur?

Small bony protuberance on the heel bone is mainly a calcium accumulation as a result of anke bone’s urge and this situation is called as heel spur. This do not arise  in a moment and start to be visible slowly in a long time process. This case can be seen in every age. Mostly, the reason behind the heel spur is that the urge of muscles and thendoms in ankels. Another reason is that abrasion of the membrane covering the heel bone.

People who are doing some sports are more likely to have the heel spur. For instance, jumping and running sportsmen are in a high range in this category.  Middle-aged group  are more likely to have the heel spur but it can take palce in young people. The heel spur risk increases when arch collapses and  archilles tendon gets stretched.  Long joggings and walking deformities’s pressure on the heel, diabetes  and doing a hars sport before the body is heated can trigger the heel spur.

What is Hallux Valgus?

Hallux Valgus is protuberances as a result of deformation on toe. This can be observed on many people and called as bunion removal foot.

Treatment of the disease

There are several methods in the treatment of Hallux Valgus. One of this is repairing tendons and ligaments around the toe. Balnce of the joint is protected in this process. Thightness in the joint due to deformation is recoverd by cutting process.

Another process is arthrodesis. This treatment can be resorted in advanced cases. Totally deformed joint surface is removed and toe joint is fixed in 10 angle. To mend the surfaces stronger after the joints mend ,  additional apparatus like screw, wire and platters are placed.
