What is Knee Prosthesis?

Covering damaged, damaged or eroded joint surfaces with different materials is called prosthetic surgery. These materials can be ceramic, plastic or metal surfaces. Different materials can be used depending on the patient's age and joint.

Knee replacement is one of the most common surgical interventions performed in daily practice. In knee prosthesis, the worn surfaces of the knee joint are covered with metal materials. Knee; It consists of 3 surfaces: the outer side, the inner side and the back of the kneecap. The type of prosthesis may change depending on the deterioration in these parts. Sometimes only the inner side is damaged and only the inner side is coated. This is called unicondylar knee prosthesis. Sometimes the entire directory becomes corrupted. It may be possible to replace two or even three surfaces. This is also called total knee replacement.
