    Osteoclasis

Bone thinning can be expressed as the bone’s being porous. The bones gain their the strongest form at the age of around 30, then they start to lose their intensity. Half of women who are 50 years and older  will have a breakage due to  bone thinning in their life time.

    Symptoms of Bone Thinning

You may nat discern the bonr thinning. It may show itself up when you have a breakage or problem with your body posture.  Backage after changes in spine can be the first sign of the bone thinning.

What causes the bone thinning ?

We do reproduce our bones regularly during the life time.  Main substance of the bones is special protein named collagen.  The bones takes it’s toughness from calcium phosphate mineral.  As the body get age, we lose our bone structure more than we can produce. The biggest change of women’s bone intensity takes place 5-7 years after menopause.

Treatment of the bone thinning may vary depending on bone intensity scanning, age , sex , medical past of the patient and level of the disease.  The treatment is generally composed of change of life style, increasing the bone intensity and drug treaphy aiming to decrease risks of bone breakeages.

    Exercise

If possible, exercises keeping the weight under control ( jogging, running etc. ) must be in program  because these exercise provide a protection of bone production and help the body in decreasing the bone loosing.  Doctors generally do advise  30 minutes exercises with 3 weeks periods in order to  protect the health. Before starting any kind of exercise, please consult to a doctor and make sure that these exercises are secure.

    Nutrition

Human body is nat capable of producing calcium. So it needs a nutrition habit containing a high calcium and this decreases speed of loosing the bone.

Vitamin D is crucial for humany body for it facilitates  absorption  of the calcium.  A diet composed of meals that containing the vitamin D is too important for giving the needed calcium to bones.

The most calcium-containing nutritions: Green vegetables, bean, legumes, fishes ( particularly sardine and salmon ) , soy products, cereals and hard shell knic knacks like nuts and walnuts. Dailiy , intake of calcium must be at least 1000 mg.  Sardine, tuna fish, egg and liver contains are rich nutritions in terms of vitamin D.

    Cigarette,  Alcohol and Caffeine

Smoker should give up smoking. Alcohol and caffein intake must be limited ( tea, coffe, cola ext. ).

    Decreasing the Risk of Breakage

Movement and daily activites are important to decrease the risk of breakage and bond thinning.  If there is a risk of loosing balance  in bathroom or falling  while lifting objects, proper cautions should be taken. Old people can use soft pads on delicate parts of the body such as hip.

    Taking Adequate Sun-Shine

Being exposed to regular and middle level sunshine helps producing vitamin D in the body. However, excessive sun shine may cause other damages.

    Drugs

    Calcium

If calcium intake is not enough, calcium supplements can be used to increase the calcium in the body. Dailiy, 1000 mg of dose is enough.

    Vitamin D

The vitamin D plays a crucial role in absorption of calcium into the bones. So some drugs containing the vitamin D can help us.  Some of these drugs can be taken by doctor’s consultation for the vitamin D supplement.

    Bisphosphonate

These organic drugs may increase the bone intensity and decrease the ratio of bone loosing. It was observed that these drugs are quite effective decrasing the ratio of breakage. These drugs mostly are taken with calcium supplements in a cycle. Side effects of these drugs are nausea and indigestion. So the doctors may put limits in taking these drugs for some people.

Hormon Replacement Teraphy ( HRT )

Horman replacement teraphy can be adviced to some  women who have bone thinnig. HRT decreases loss of bone and increases bone intensity. HRT method is an effective treatment fort he bone thinning. On the other hand, according to the last studies, it was proven that use of HRT in the long term may cause a copule of risks. Thus, advice of doctor for the patient and research of feasibility of the teraphy is crucial.

Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator ( SERM )

This sort of drugs can be used to prevent bone thinning, as these drugs are already beeing used for cancer treatment. These drugs are quite effective in reducing the breakages of backbone and show their influence by imitating the role of estrogen on the bones. So, they are usually  used, significantly in postmenopause period, to increase the bone intensity on the women. On the other hand, some of the SERM’s are restricted due to their side effects.

    Surgical Treatment

Breakages are the basic reasons of bone thinning. Most of the people prefer to get recover without having a surgery. Occasionally, a breakage can be hars so that it necessitates a surgery.

Hip fractures are more observeable case in older people who have the bone  thinning. In most cases, replacement of the hipbone is necessary. Along with the bone thinnings, breast cancer may give a way to the hip fractures.
